LIYFC’s Response to the COVID-19 Coronavirus

PLEASE CHECK THIS PAGE FOR UP-TO-DATE INFORMATION ABOUT WAYS THAT YFC IS RESPONDING TO THE CORONAVIRUS OUTBREAK.

Dear YFC Family,

Over the last year as we learn more about the Coronavirus, we continue to remain apprised of the recommendations of the CDC and WHO, and have maintained close contact with medical professionals within our community. We have noted that many of the churches we are in partnership with on Long Island have made the decision to switch to a hybrid and online solution until they can resume their regular activities to full capacity.   We have decided to do the same.  We know “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind” (2 Tim. 1:7). And at the same time, we are also called to be responsible and wise (Eph. 5:15), to love our neighbor as ourselves (Mark 12:31), and to be motivated by what is in the best interest of others (Phil. 2:4).

It is with this in mind that we continue to provide a hybrid model of ministry for our students.  Hosting many clubs and Bible studies online, while also providing safe socially distant club meetings when appropriate for each site and community.  Over this year, the ministry has not stopped but continues to adapt daily to meet the needs of our students and communities.  If you are a student or parent that wishes to connect with one of our ministries, email YFC at info@liyfc.org or call our office at 631-385-8333.

WHAT CAN SUPPORTERS DO?

Give - We are aware of how the markets have affected many of us financially but ask that you please consider the financial impact of this decision on the ministry of Youth for Christ. We depend on the generous donations of those who believe in our mission and want to invest in the lives of young people in our community, and ask that during this season of heightened concern you continue to mail in your donations to our office or consider signing up for online giving. Many of our donors give online already because it is a convenient and consistent way to give. You can do this at www.liyfc.org/donate.

Pray - Despite all the daily changes we need to remember that we are called to trust in God. Let us remember what makes us distinctive in times of anxiety and uncertainty. We are not a people who get swept away in the current of fear and worry, but a people whose trust is in God. We cast our cares on Him, knowing that He cares for us (1 Peter 5:17). Join us in praying for those who have been affected by the virus around the world. Ask God to protect our doctors and nurses who every day place their own health at risk in the service of others. And ask God, not just to keep us safe, but to make us courageous and full of hope.

We will continue to keep or regular office hours during this time so if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us at 631-385-8333.

We leave you with this prayer from Numbers 6: 24-26 – “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”
